A look at this year’s Categories:

Category 1: Millinery

For this year’s competition we are asking entrants to create a hat, headpiece or fascinator. We are looking for an innovative and high quality piece of millinery that will really wow us! The prompt for this year’s competition is “In Your Wildest Dreams”. We want you to take this theme and interpret it however you see fit – this could be inspired by a recurring dream you have, a dream for your future, a dream world, a dream job, a dream holiday or even a dream outfit! The possibilities are endless. Let your imagination run wild!

You will be provided with a curated bag of Millinery materials in which to create your entry from. Each of the items in the bag must be used, if only in part, to complete your submission. This year you are able to use any number of additional materials, as long as you still feature the materials provided.

The piece should be made to fit a head fit of 22.5 inches or 57cm.

Judges will determine the winner of the Millinery category by –

  2. Wearability
  3. Quality Workmanship
  4. Use of provided and additional materials
  5. Interpretation of the theme

Category 2: Modern Revival

New to this year’s Hattember competition is our Modern Revival Category! Your challenge will be to bring these gorgeous, vintage materials into a modern, contemporary framework. There is no specific theme for this category other than the concept of Modern Revival in itself, bringing the old into the new.

Each of the items in the bag must be used, if only in part, to complete your submission. You are able to use any number of additional and modern materials, as long as you still include the materials provided.

This category is broader in nature and you may create a traditional millinery hat, headpiece, a bridal piece or a unisex piece!

  3. Quality Workmanship
